Family Friendly Events You Won’t Want to Miss this March

Austin’s energy hits differently this time of year—sun-soaked patios, music in the air, and just enough weirdness to keep things interesting. Whether you’re craving live music, local flavor, or something a little offbeat, the city’s calendar is buzzing. Here are four can’t-miss family friendly Austin events that’ll give your month a little more excitement, color, and sparkle.

1. Touch-a-Truck in Hutto

If your kid lights up at the sight of a fire truck, construction vehicle, or anything with wheels and sirens, this one’s for you. Touch-a-Truck lets little ones get up close and personal with all kinds of community vehicles—from big rigs to police cruisers to tractors. Honk the horn, climb inside, and meet the people who keep things moving behind the scenes.

  • When: March 19, 9AM–12PM
  • Where: Brushy Creek Amphitheater, Hutto, TX
  • Why you’ll love it: It’s hands-on, high-energy, and perfect for curious minds (and small hands).
  • Good to know: Free to attend, just bring sunblock and a camera—you’ll want to capture those wide-eyed moments.

2. Kaleidospoke

A night ride, but make it dreamy. Kaleidospoke invites you to bring your bike and cruise a one-mile paved path illuminated with LED light displays, glowing sculptures, and all kinds of art-meets-motion surprises. It’s part interactive light show, part night-time joyride, and completely unique.

  • When: March 21, 7PM–9:30PM
  • Where: Cedar Park Recreation Center
  • Why you’ll love it: It’s equal parts wellness and wonder—just you, your bike, and a glowing path under the stars.
  • Good to know: It’s free, but registration is required. Lights on your bike encouraged, good vibes mandatory.

3. Sherwood Forest Faire

Escape the city and step into a medieval village where fairies roam, minstrels sing, and turkey legs are a lifestyle. The Sherwood Forest Faire is a full-on renaissance experience with artisan shops, over 150 live performances per day, and all the mythical energy you didn’t know you needed.

  • When: March 21-23
  • Where: Sherwood Forest Faire in McDade, TX
  • Why you’ll love it: It’s immersive, imaginative, and surprisingly nostalgic (even if you’ve never owned a sword).
  • Good to know: Costumes encouraged. Weekend passes available. It’s a bit of a drive, but the vibes are worth it.

4. Arty Party

Calling all tiny artists. Arty Party is a sweet, sensory-friendly gathering where kids 3 and under can explore the world of art and nature through books, music, and hands-on creativity. It’s calm, colorful, and just the right kind of messy.

  • When: March 28, 10AM–11AM
  • Where: The Contemporary Austin – Laguna Gloria
  • Why you’ll love it: It’s a gentle, playful intro to art for little ones—and a peaceful way to break up the morning routine.
  • Good to know: All materials provided, just bring a curious kiddo and a willingness to get a little painty.
